Yet falling down with a thud
Self-pity, pride and doubt
All crowd out the knowledge of His love
You’ll never bee good enough
Darkness lurks all about your day
It feels as though life’s never been this rough
You go through your routines
Building up a ten foot wall
To hide everyone from seeing you fall
What do they think of you
Are you good enough for everyone?
There’s nothing you could ever do
To make all your failures undone
We are all hiding behind walls of stone
Trying to cover the messes we’ve made
Yet deep within, we groan
Only looking to Christ will we fade
For we are nothing without Him
Even our good deeds are useless
Nothing without His righteousness
Dead unless connected to the tree
Thus we must get out of the way
His life and power in us this day
Our pride separates us from His life
Immediately we begin to wither
As though a razor sharp knife
Until separated from the trunk
We then begin to rot and stink
Rid yourself from all selfishness
Self esteem, self pity, pride and confidence
Be filled instead with Christ and His righteousness
Although the fog and clouds still seem dense
Beyond it all, still shines the sun
In all it’s brightness and glory
There’s no need to doubt nor be glum
Everything He writes in His story
Is all part of a perfect plan
Even when we miss the mark
Hidden, working in our heart
That which will glorify His Name
So let go of the pen you’re grasping
Give up all that’s given shame
Your fingers numb from clasping
Your hearts heavy from all the pain
It’s only when you’re weakest
Not worrying about what others think
For then His power shows up greatest
Soon this world will be over in a blink
And only His opinion matters
His Kingdom, His righteousness, His Name
Never heed the lips of one who flatters
For the next minute all he’ll do is blame
Be rooted deep within the Fathers love
Nothing else compares to Him
He’s quietly planning for you above
As all the earthly applause grows dim
He gives you more His Spirit and Nature Divine
Nothing here compares to this
Renew your way of thinking in your mind
He’ll reveal to you such bliss
All height and depth, width and length
Going beyond all understanding
That you may be filled with
All of Him, in every single part
With you in the secret heart
What joy beyond all compare inside
While outside the storm will blow
Nevertheless joy overflows while doing His will
There alone as you get to know
His ways, and better still
where no one else ever will see
He shines forth all His glory
Through your, broken, empty life
